Sur Sangam Fundraising Concert – Celebrating 100 Years of Raj Kapoor

Every year, Light of Life Trust brings together the magic of music and the power of purpose through a unique tradition—its annual fundraising concert. Over the past many years, these events have not only brought together some of the country’s most beloved musical voices but have also become a crucial platform to raise funds for the Trust’s mission: to send rural children back to school. These concerts have grown to become a hallmark of Light of Life Trust’s deep-rooted commitment to education and empowerment in underserved communities.

In recent years, the stage has been graced by popular singers like Sanjeevani Bhelande and Javed Ali, who have lent their voices to support the cause. Their performances have created unforgettable evenings of music while helping the organization reach deeper into rural India with its education and community upliftment programs. For audiences, these nights have offered not just entertainment but the opportunity to be part of something bigger—each note resonating with meaning and impact.

This year’s concert, titled Sur-Sangam, is poised to be one of the biggest and most meaningful yet. To be held on Friday, 19th September 2025 at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre in Nariman Point, Mumbai, the event pays tribute to the 100-year legacy of the legendary Raj Kapoor, the eternal showman of Indian cinema. The musical evening will feature some of his most iconic songs performed live on stage, and the lineup is as impressive as the cause it supports.

What makes this year truly special is the participation of Padmashri Suresh Wadkar, performing for Light of Life Trust for the very first time. His voice, known for its depth and timeless appeal, brings a sense of prestige and anticipation to the concert. He will be joined by Sanjeevani Bhelande, who has performed for the Trust in previous years, along with Mukhtar Shah and Chirag Panchal. The evening will also feature an ensemble of twenty-five musicians, led by Panchal, promising a rich, immersive musical experience.

While the performances are bound to mesmerize, the true heart of this event lies in its purpose. The funds raised from this concert will go directly toward Light of Life Trust’s educational initiatives for children in rural areas—initiatives that include enrolling out-of-school children, providing them with transport, study materials, and meals, and offering them consistent mentoring and emotional support. Beyond education, the Trust also works in the areas of women empowerment and palliative care, but the core of its mission remains unchanged: ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Sur-Sangam is not just an event; it is an invitation to be part of a larger movement—one where music becomes a vehicle for change. By attending the concert or becoming a donor or sponsor, you are helping a child take one step closer to a classroom, to a future of possibilities. Donor passes are available through BookMyShow, and for sponsorships or special passes, the team can be contacted at connect@lightoflifetrust.org or +91-9820689131.

As we come together to celebrate Raj Kapoor’s cinematic legacy and welcome some of India’s finest musical talent to the stage, we also reaffirm our collective belief in education as a force for transformation. This September, let us not just attend a concert—let us contribute to a future filled with light, learning, and hope.
